Stop the Pain – Aim These Remedies for Heartburn
Lying down after a big meal , you feel a burning sensation pain in the center of your chest . Before long, the fire spreads upward to your neck. The pain eventually dies down , but not before you curse that third helping. That burning sensation you felt was pyrosis, also known as acid indigestion. Despite the name, heartburn has nothing to do with the heart. It is a gastrointestinal problem that occurs when stomach acid comes into contact with the lining of the esophagus, causing irritation. Most people suffer from heartburn occasionally, often times every after meal . Heartburn is not a disorder but hence a symptom that the GI tract is not okay. Medicaly, heartburn can be perhaps accompanied by acid reflux. Acid reflux is also an symptom of a gastrointestinal disorder.Try the remedies for heartburn and you’ll be surprised of their effectiveness.
Things you should know:
- Excessive used of these prescribed medicines and Antacids will make your heartburn conditions worse and that could lead to more severe complications.
- Acid reflux can become extremely dangerous if left untreated.
- Antacids and not anti-acids should be taken.
- Heartburn is one sign that there is something wrong within your body.
A few simple lifestyle changes — perhaps combined with a couple of remedies for heartburn — often bring great relief from heartburn. Even if your case is severe, a little self-help and remedy for heartburn can go a long way.
- Lose weight if you’re overweight: weight lose can make a big difference.
- If heartburn bothers you at night, try raising the head of the bed four to six inches , perhaps by sliding blocks of wood under the bedposts. (Putting an extra pillow under your head probably won’t help and can even make heartburn worse .) Sleeping on your left side has also been shown to be better than lying on the right side or stomach.
- Before going to sleep, try to at least eat 3 – 4 hours before . Avoid lying down within three hours of a meal, because lying flat just after eating is likely to result in a bad case of acid reflux.
- Eat smaller meals, and avoid from eating late at night .
- If you smoke , do whatever it takes to quit. Smoking decreases lower esophageal sphincter pressure. Although there is little scientific evidence that quitting will cure your GERD, it certainly will greatly lower your risk of heart disease, cancer, and many other serious health problems.
- If you drink a lot , cut back on alcohol. Although eliminating alcohol hasn’t been proven to reduce heartburn, alcohol does decrease lower esophageal pressure and it is good for your general health to cut back.
- Though a recent review of clinical studies showed little evidence that changing your diet can relieve GERD(Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease) , it makes sense to avoid food that seems to increase your stomach upset. Foods that have historically been thought to cause symptoms include fatty foods, chocolate, caffeinated food and drinks, citrus fruit or juices, tomato-based products, alcohol, and spicy foods.
- Go for a walk after meals if possible (this may also help with gas and bloating).
- Avoid tight clothing , including restrictive belts and “control-top” underwear.
- Don’t bend over from your waist after a big meal.
Heartburn Remedies:
- Drink plenty of water .
- Never try smoking or if you are, then cut it off.
- Eating ginger every meal reduce suffering and stomach upset.
- Consuming more fiber nutrient foods is another natural way to alleviate future suffering.
- Herbal teas containing even trace amounts of peppermint, chamomile, ginger, licorice root and catnip help the stomach lining repair itself.
We should not take chances. Prevention is better than cure

Much obliged for supplying some savvy suggestions on this topic. I have sought out a good variety of savvy suggestions about natural health and some unreliable information. Do you have any more reliable suggestions or places on the Web that I can find more detailed ideas? This would be certainly appreciated! Either way, keep up the good work!
